Plastic disposable cutlery along with takeaway containers is one of the worst plastic polluters in the world. Used for a few minutes, rarely gets recycled because it’s light weight and dirty.
According to Ocean Conservancy, an estimated 8 million metric tons of plastic enters our blue planet’s marine waters annually. To put in perspective, this volume of trash in just one year is approximately equivalent to an entire garbage truck full of plastic being dumped into our ocean every minute of every day…on all 365 of those days.
But it doesn’t stop here, plastic breaks down into micro-plastics. According to WHO, traces of micro-plastics have been detected in marine water, waste water, fresh water, food, air and drinking water, both bottled and tap water. Plastic impacts us humans as well right from the extraction stage to end of life effecting our physical and mental well-being.
Switching to good quality reusables is the best way to avoid single use plastic but if we ever have to use single use, then look for options that are close to nature and can be returned back to the nature without leaving a negative impact behind.
Our wooden disposable cutlery is a zero landfill product and on breaking down does not leave any toxic residue behind.
